To help you better understand what sort of treatment you are receiving, we invite you to review the following glossary.
Appliance: something that is attached to your teeth and used to align your teeth or jaw
Bracket: the ceramic or metal part of braces that attaches to your teeth and fastens the wire in place
Band: a metal ring that is glued to one of your teeth; it is used to attach brackets
Elastic Tie: a small rubber band, often coming in a variety of colors, which holds the wire in place on a bracket.
Wax: rubbed along the brackets to prevent brackets from catching onto the inner part of your lips
